Happy Mundane Holidays 2014

Happy Mundane Holidays 2014

It’s the last few days of 2014! Where did this year go? Frankly I’m kind of ready for it to be over, and much more excited about starting anew in 2015. This is actually my favorite time of the year, not so much about the actual holiday, but more that I get some much needed time off to just do some, as I call it, “holiday healing”. I take this time to finally clean up my house from all the chaos that has been accumulating over the past few weeks/months, get re-focused, catch up on much needed friend time, magazine time, and most importantly, sleep time!

As for decorations this holiday, I did manage to do my annual ornament adventure. This was last years, and 2012, 2011 (part 1 and 2),and a round up of years prior to that here and here.

This year, I was feeling a simple color scheme of gold, black and white. I think it all started when I saw these faceted ornaments at Ikea, and I’ve been wanting to use black ornaments for awhile now.

I still have a bunch of foam building blocks from past projects (I used them for my ornaments from 2011 and I also used them again for my art piece from my Solana Beach pad) I thought I could use them again this year. I simply painted them matte black (using some chalkboard spray paint) and then I did a little 80’s inspired homage with some gold paint spatters.

For my gifts, I re-used the black/gold wrapping paper that I used for the J3 Christmas project from a few years ago (2012)– which also used the gold/black/white theme, and added some simple solid black paper with gold ribbon, and a gold polka dot paper from Paper Source.

Anywayzzzz, I also carried the theme to my centerpiece with some gold and black glass candle hurricanes.
