Men’s F/W Fashion Week Pt. 2

Men’s F/W Fashion Week Pt. 2

Here’s Part 2 of my favorite men’s collections from Fall/Winter 2023 runway shows:

Dries Van Noten

I loved the combination of amazing tailoring, nature motifs, and then a nod to 90’s rave culture and fashion towards the end. As someone who was a fan of raves back in da day, I appreciated the references and they way the muted earthy color palette kept things updated and modern. Also, I need all the coats.

Paul Smith

You can always count on Paul Smith for great color, and this collection didn’t disappoint. Apparently he went back and revisited some fabrics from his archives and redid them for today. I really liked the floral motif (inspired by some vintage rugs he found) and all the new interpretations of the classic puffer jacket.

Homme Plissé Issey Miyake

This show must have been such an experience in person. The mesmerizing interpretive dance sequences looked incredible. Homme Plissé is all about providing giving men an easy and modern way to dress, based off the pleating technique the Issey Miyake team has been doing since the late 80’s. The idea is the pieces can be mixed and matched and the fabric is wrinkle free and lightweight. I loved the raglan style arm/sleeve detailing on many of the tops. Obviously the colors were also a win for me.

Kolor

This was probably my second favorite of the F/W men’s shows. Designer Junichi Abe explores some interesting layering for his F/W 23 for his brand Kolor. I love the asymmetrical construction and great color combinations. I also love the mixing of sporty references with more traditional pieces.

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture by Haider Ackermann

via Vogue

Ok, so this is just a bonus and nothing to do with Men’s fashion- BUT OMG THIS. IS. FASH-UN. I literally gasped out loud when I first saw these images. The Spring 2023 Haute Couture Jean Paul Gaultier by Haider Ackermann. The collection is EVERYTHING. So elegant but modern. You could tell the models are just living in these pieces. Haider Ackermann understood the assignment. No Notes. The styling, the hair and make up. All Perfection. I am ☠️.
