blue tuesday: accent wall

Totally inspired by this blue accent wall featured in the September 2010 issue of Homes & Gardens (British). I especially like the fact that they didn’t bring the blue color all the way to the ceiling, and left it a little below the moulding that’s around the doorway. It adds just enough color, but doesn’t become overbearing. If you don’t have existing moulding on your walls, I think this look could be easily replicated by adding some off the shelf moulding from the hardware store. Or I could see using a cluster of some large empty picture frames, and then just paint all of them (including the wall) the same color. Everything else in this room works really well together too. The dark floors, the hit of lime green on the shade, the little bunny taxidermy… Love Love all around! (photo by Mark Bolton for Homes & Gardens)

PS. By the way, if you haven’t already, I’m curious about where you’re reading Happy Mundane from. See the post at this link and let me know the city/country in the comments- Thanks!!
