just a few amazing things 10.28.11

It’s been a crazy week for me here in happy mundane land. Lots of commotion in the blog-o-sphere too! Let’s get to some amazing things:

• 1) Did you know West Elm has their very own awesome blog now? And oh, look who we have here? ME! lol- If you’re curious, check out this little interview West Elm so kindly had with yours truly, and then check out the rest of their beautiful blog here. (Thank you West elm for having me!)

• 2) Speaking of new blogs, I’ve known Igor Josifovic via twitter and facebook for awhile now. Well, now Igor FINALLY has a blog up to call his own! It’s bright, happy, and stylish, just like Igor, so check it out here.

• 3) and MORE lovin’ from the blog-o-sphere?! I told you this was a crazy week! This time, my dear and devoted lil stinker Pepé! is featured on “the ScooP” on Dog-milk! A wonderful resource and site for dog-owning design lovers! Check out Pepé’s interview here. (thanks Dog-Milk!)

• 4) Love these Addison candle holders. Some of them have lower trays which can hold additional items and lets you go vertical when dressing a tablescape.

I have big news next week in my life that will ultimately affect the blog, but I’ll wait until everything’s official to announce it. However, this video is a big clue. Hope you all have a great weekend!

tgif video break: i’m into you… chanel

Suddenly it’s Friday?! How did that happen? Sorry for the lack of posts the past two days. Been crazy swamped with work, and alas the week has flown by. Anyway, in other news, a BIG BIG thanks to Elle Decor for including one of my fav etsy picks for art and photography. Check it out here, alongside a few other awesome bloggers’ picks as well.

Being that the week is over, I’m in desperate need of mental and visual escape-, so here’s two vids to show you how I plan on spending the weekend- frolicking around Mexico and attending a glamorously fashion fab over the top dramatic party… or rather, here’s what I’ll be dreaming about as I hide in bed being lazy and putz-ing around, hehe. Oh and Happy Mother’s Day to all you gorgeous moms! Have a good one!

(btw, I am the original “J.Lo” thankyouverymuch)

just a few (amazing) things 2.4.11

I picked up this little guy a few weeks ago when I was in SD, at the Mingei museum gift shop. He’s completely made out of recycled plastic bags! Speaking of animals, for those of you that celebrate the lunar calendar, Happy New Year! It’s the year of the rabbit! Anyway- here’s some happy linkage for your Friday… have a great weekend!!

• I’ve mentioned how I’ve become a Pinterest fanatic. I am completely obsessed I tell you! Pinterest has enabled me an outlet for so many of the other things that I don’t really mention on this blog, but are still areas I’m extremely interested in. It’s been soooo great sharing my “pins” with other people and also seeing what other people are “pinning” too. I’ve learned and been introduced to sooo much! Apparently my rampant “pinning” piqued the curiosity of Pinterest co-founder Ben Silbermann. He was so kind as to reach out and do a small profile of me for the Pinterest blog. If you are curious to know a little more about me, how I started my company J3, and how I use Pinterest, check it out here. (P.S. be on the look out for Pepé in the office pic)

• These color inspiration images from Farrow and Ball’s new 2011 colours are sooo great. I love all the color blocking- especially on the ceilings. Swoooon…

• I’m so excited for fellow blog buds, Holly from Decor8, and Coco from Cococozy. Coco just launched her new textile collection at the NYIGF and you can see a behind the scenes look at how that all came together here. Holly over at Decor8′s new book, aptly titled “Decor8″ comes out in a few weeks! Pre-order here. Big congrats to these bloggers for taking things to the next level!

• Dabito at Old Brand New, just came back from a jaunt in Paris. These photos of his trip are incredible. I especially love the shot of the old lady in the fierce black and white striped jacket. C’est manifique! (via Old Brand New)

• Morgan’s post about her (so bad it’s good) tchotchke war made me literally laughing out loud. This caused an awkward moment of strange looks at me in the office. Check out why here. (via the brick house)

• I’ll leave you with this shot from La Boeuf, who posted a pic of his chair that has the most beautiful turquoise/green fabric. I could stare at that for hours…(via La Boeuf)

bright spot: DIY ideas magazine spring 2011

So… I picked up the latest copy of DIY ideas magazine over the weekend, and was immediately drawn to this bright home featured in the issue. Hey… wait a minute… something looks really familiar. Hey… it’s MY house! and that’s Pepé! LOL- ok, ok… if you’ve been following my twitter for awhile, you might remember me tweeting about this. Here’s the scoop… Read the rest of this entry »

that’s hot: O.C. Hot List 2011 Riviera Magazine

whoa- totally surprised to see this mundane blog mentioned in the January 2011 issue of Riviera Magazine. Guess who is #2 on the O.C. Hot List 2011 for the Home category!? So unexpected and totally made my day. You can check out the whole issue here, as well as the recent Riviera Interiors issue with some of my favorite shops in OC and SD. Thank you Riviera!!

riviera interiors fall 2010

Enormous thanks to Riviera Magazine for having me and happy mundane in their Interiors Fall 2010 issue! (there’s even a shout out to Pepé! woo hoo!) They featured a few of my favorite design shop recommendations for Orange County and San Diego. It’s on newsstands now, but you can check out an online version here. (My story starts on page 50) Thanks Riviera!

happy mundane blogiversary!

First off- Whoa- it’s March? Where did February go? And then come today, I realize it has been… 4 years?! that this little mundane blog has been around?! Wow- That’s just crazy talk I tell ya! Well, once again, my sincerest thanks to each and every one of you that take some time out of your day to check out my mundane musings. I started this blog, mainly as an outlet to document the things that were catching my eye, and to have a place to share the pretty things that can be found everywhere and anywhere. It’s not where you live, it’s how you live that’s important. Thanks for joining in the ride and please continue to send your emails and comments. I love hearing from you! By the way, I recently signed up to formspring, so if you happen to have a question for me- ask away! click here.

In other news, special shout out to the super awesome folks at Home & Decor magazine in Singapore for featuring me as their “blogger of the month!” (Thanks to Imelda for letting me know the issue came out!)

Anyway- Work has been a bit hectic, but rest assured- I do have a bunch of things I’ve been meaning to do here on the blog still on the list- I mentioned previously that I’m working on a complete site re-design (still tweaking- but it’s coming along), I also still have a few giveaways and a bunch of book reviews on the way as well. So please stay tuned and thanks again for sharing these past 4 years with me! Go eat something yummy! It’s Tuesday! you deserve it!

note-worthy?

wow! Happy Mundane is Blog of note today! woo hoo! A big welcome to any new visitors! Feel free to check out the archives to the right- (thanks blogger!)

Apartment Therapy Presents

Woo hoo! My copy of the AT book was waiting for me when I got home Friday afternoon! It’s soooo neato. Ok, not that I’m in any way biased (er… not that my place just happens to be in it, or that I happen to blog for them too, hehe) but it’s such a fun book! Ok, yeah, I’m totally plugging it, but really, I definitely recommend checking it out if you love house-tours. There’s such an array of styles, colors, and tastes in this book, and they’re all of homes from people like you and me. So much great inspiration and it’s a substantial size too! The images of my place were shot last year, so its funny to see how it has changed since then. (if you’ve been following this blog, you’ll probably notice a few things, but my place is still pretty similar to when it was shot.) I took some updated shots on Saturday, and should be having an official house-tour on AT in the coming weeks. (hopefully I won’t get blasted with too many snarky comments, hehe) Anyway- I think my favorites inside are: “hakarl and jili’s bold bright moves”, “jane and darko’s cozy thicket”, “tyke and jon’s topanga casa”, “victoria’s bomo pad” and “marilyn and peter’s home studio.” oh! and “gregory and emily’s silverlake sanctuary” and “marlon’s blue pad.” See- there’s just tooo many to choose!
