TGIF video break: Herb Ritts Summer

TGIF video break: Herb Ritts Summer

Wow, what a week, what a year? what a world? And on top of it all, it’s suddenly mid August, and it feels like “Summer” is already being pushed out and things are on a fast track to Fall?? Well, it’s technically still “Summer” and I’m going to hold on as hard as I can. Amidst all the crazyness that’s been happening, I’ve been trying to focus on creating more beautiful things to offset all the ugly I’ve been seeing. At some point this week, I was looking back at some of the people who have been a major influence to me and helped shape my aesthetic. One such person is the late, great, and iconic photographer, Herb Ritts. Herb Ritts always captured the most beautiful aspect of whatever he was shooting. His images were pure and graphic. His work defined a new “california cool” that made everything (and everyone he shot) sexy with a relaxed glamour, making him one of the most sought after photographers of the late 80s and 90s, until his untimely death in 2002. He primarily focused in black and white still photography, but he also directed several striking music videos. Here are four of my favorites that all give the perfect summer vibes. If you’d like to see more of his work, there is a recent compilation aptly called “The Golden Hour” that I highly recommend.

Have a great weekend! Make sure you’re following me on Insta and insta stories for more mundane shenanigans and fun pretty things to make you happy. 🙂
