The Royal Hawaiian Resort

The Royal Hawaiian Resort

I can’t believe it’s already September! Technically we still have a few weeks of “summer” left (September 22 is the offical last day of the Summer Solstice) but I’m trying to come to the gripping reality that “Fall” is coming. Luckily living in So Cal means it will still be pretty warm for at least a few more months.

Anyway- as I mentioned earlier, a highlight this summer was my last trip to Hawaii. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Waikiki, but the one I tend to keep coming back to is The Royal Hawaiian.

Built in 1927, The Royal Hawaiian resort has been an icon of Hawaii and of Waikiki Beach. Dubbed “the Pink Palace”, it ushered in a new era of luxury travel. They recently did a massive renovation and I think the results definitely bring the hotel up to date, while still keeping true to the rich Hawaiian spirit and sophistication the hotel has always been known for.

Let’s take a few minutes to enjoy some magical moments at the Pink Palace…

Also- here’s my Steller story of the Royal Hawaiian (click on the image below and a new window should pop-up- NOTE: if you’re viewing this on a MAC, the story is best viewed in Safari for the video functions to work)

By the way, have you seen the new Steller 2.0 app? They’ve added a bunch of great features to make it easier to use and they’ve enabled commenting, hashtagging, and more comprehensive search function! Check it out here if you haven’t had a chance yet! (here’s my previous post about Steller) You can follow me under “happymundane” which can be found in the search section. You can also check out all my Steller stories here.
