Ocean Sole – Recycled Flip Flop Sculptures

One of the places I always need to visit when on Oahu is Mu’umu’uHeaven in Kailua. While there I spotted this little arrangement of brightly colored happy animal sculptures and immediately had to have this little shark.

It’s made by a company called Ocean Sole. Based in Kenya, Ocean Sole creates wonderful products from discarded flip flops. Every year, thousands of flip flops and other debris wash up on the shores of East Africa, which threaten the ecosystems and environment. Founder Julie Church formed Ocean Sole and works with local artisans to help clean up the beaches and also create these beautiful products.
