mad monster party!

Black is the new black

Totally feelin’ a little black magic today, (which seems appropriate right before Halloween.) Love this “Black Basalt” collection from Wedgwood as spotted in the latest Domino Mag.
and call me crazy- but I’m totally into this wire web basket(and kinda think this could be fun all year round!) actually wondering, what if you spray painted it gold? or chrome…

housetour! karen kimmel and james bond home

Happy friday- I have a nice treat for you today- Over at AT:LA, I contributed a great housetour of my friends Karen and James, who live in Los Feliz, CA. Their house is seriously what I want my home to be when I grow up. Fun, playful, but sophisticated and edited at the same time. Extreeeeemly chic and totally stylish. Amazing use of colors. and the artwork collection is to die for. I’ll mention more about Karen’s amazing work coming up soon, but check out her site here. Click over to AT:LA for the full house tour, but here’s some preview pics.

Domino Bazaar this weekend!

For all you folks in So Cal, this weekend is the 3rd Annual Domino Bazaar! It’s being held in Culver City (at HD Buttercup), open to the public, starting tomorrow, Friday Oct. 17, through Sunday Oct. 19th, 2008. There’s going to be more than 20,000 square feet of furnishings and accessories and fun stuff- as well as consultations, classes, and more. Also, the new book by Domino, “Domino, the book of decorating” will be available, so you can get a first hand look at it- (my Happy Mundane review of the book coming soon!). Tickets are $20, but it also includes a one year subscription to Domino, and $5 from each ticket benefits ACRIA, the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America. Click here for all the info and to purchase tickets.

Gilded Pumpkins

I’ve already mentioned my pumpkin scenario for this year, but I spotted this really fun treatment in the October Country Living. They gilded their pumpkins! I love the look, but am wondering if I couldn’t just use some gold spray paint? Check out how they did it here. Slideshow here. (photos by Joseph De Leo)
